GULFSTREAM AIRCRAFT PRESENCE IN ASIA-PACIFIC NEARLY TRIPLES IN ONLY FIVE YEARS
The Gulfstream G550 and GV Now Account for Nearly Half of All Ultra-Long-Range Business Jets in Asia
SAVANNAH , Ga. , Feb. 6, 2007 – The number of Gulfstream business-jet aircraft operating in the Asia-Pacific region since 2001 has increased by 268 percent. The largest jump was posted by the company’s ultra-long-range models, the G550 and its predecessor, the GV, with sales increasing 600 percent since 2001.
Currently, 59 Gulfstream aircraft are operating in Asia-Pacific, representing 32 percent of the competitive business-jet aircraft in operation in the region. Among them, the GV and G550 represent 49 percent of all ultra-long-range business jets operating in that region.
“We’re encouraged by the recent growth of the Gulfstream fleet in Asia-Pacific,” said Bryan Moss, president, Gulfstream. “In the past year, we’ve focused our attention and increased our investment in Asia to attract new customers while meeting the needs of our growing customer base.”
In January, Gulfstream appointed two new regional sales vice presidents, Herman Chai and Peter Hoi. Both will be based in Hong Kong to represent the entire Gulfstream business-jet fleet to customers in the Asia-Pacific region.
In addition to safe, reliable and high-performance aircraft, Gulfstream’s commitment to support all operators of its in-service fleet, regardless of their base locations, differentiates it in the marketplace.
Managed on the belief that outstanding product support sells future airplanes, Gulfstream Product Support significantly strengthened its field service representation in Asia over the past year.
In January 2006, Field Service Representative (FSR) Danny Allen joined James Albritton in Hong Kong . The Gulfstream Singapore office added Mark Moss in April and, two months later, added Tracy Waters. Gulfstream also added a maintenance technician with specialized training in the PlaneView ® cockpit and in the second quarter of 2007, Gulfstream plans to add another technician in Hong Kong .
To further improve dispatch reliability of aircraft based in the region or in transit, Gulfstream positioned $4 million worth of additional high-use parts and ground support equipment in Hong Kong . In December 2006, Gulfstream’s Savannah Service Center became the first U.S.-based repair station to receive approval from the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD) to perform maintenance on Hong Kong-registered aircraft.
