GULFSTREAM NAMES TWO NEW DIRECTORS AT ITS WISCONSIN FACILITY
Mike Cerny Appointed as Director of Engineering and Quality; Greg Laabs Named Director of Service

SAVANNAH , Ga. , May 8, 2007 – Gulfstream Aerospace has named two new directors at its Appleton, Wis., business-jet aircraft completions and service facility.



Mike Cerny

Mike Cerny has been named director of engineering and quality. He most recently served as the electronics engineering manager for the Plumbing Americas business unit of Kohler Company in Kohler , Wis. He also held engineering manager- and director-level positions for SMTC Manufacturing, headquartered in Toronto with a facility in Appleton, and for Heurikon Corp., based in Madison, Wis.

Cerny earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.



Greg Laabs

Greg Laabs has been named director of service. Previously, he was general manager of maintenance for Mayo Aviation in Englewood, Colo., where he had maintenance oversight of eight aircraft and managed maintenance sales, parts, inspections and line departments. Prior to Mayo, Laabs was vice president of operations for West Star Aviation in Grand Junction, Colo.

After earning an airframe and powerplant (A&P) license in 1979, Laabs began his aviation career as an aircraft mechanic for Duncan Aviation in Lincoln, Neb. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business, graduating summa cum laude from Doane College in Lincoln. He also holds an associate’s degree in aircraft maintenance from Iowa Western Community College.








Gulfstream’s Appleton site comprises final phase manufacturing of large-cabin Gulfstream business jets, product support services and a General Dynamics Aviation Services facility. The three business units employ some 700 employees in Appleton.
